Well what a week for Midleton Brand releases, but it doesn’t stop! Blakes of The Hollow recently announced that they would be releasing a bottled in bond version of Powers Whiskey. This release was distilled in the Old Johns Lane Distillery, before it closed, back in 1964.
It was bottled at 40% in the 80’s after aging (16yrs) in cask 4661 but remained dormant in the screwcap bottle that is being sold since. There was never a label put on it.
That changes now with 160 of these bottles being labeled with the old Powers White Label design, boasting a 39.8% ABV (which technically doesn’t meet Irish Whiskey standards of 40%) but only losing 0.2% after decades in a bottle is impressive.
Excited to see how this is received and any other releases Blakes Of The Hollow might be hiding from us in their cellars!
