Blakes of the Hollow recently announced a bottled in bond version of Powers Whiskey, distilled in 1964 at the Old John’s Lane Distillery, before it closed.

It was bottled at 40% in the 80s after ageing (16 years) in cask 4661, but stayed dormant in a screwcap bottle and was sold on that way. There was never a label put on it.

That changes now, with 160 of these bottles being labelled with the old Powers White Label design. They come in at 39.8% ABV, which technically doesn’t meet the Irish whiskey standard of 40%, but only losing 0.2% after roughly 40 years in a bottle is impressive.

Excited to see how this is received and what else Blakes of the Hollow might be hiding in their cellars!

You can find me on Instagram and Twitter.
